Born 1978
Tony Parsons is a British artist known for his bold, original oil paintings—works that capture not just places, but presence. Split between two bodies of work, his practice moves between luminous plein air landscapes and seascapes, and large-scale, abstracted animal paintings created in the studio with explosive colour and energy.
A former RNLI lifeboat skipper of 26 years, Tony’s deep connection to the coast runs through his work. His time at sea—rescuing lives, chasing storms, standing at the boundary between danger and beauty—now informs both the serenity and intensity of his paintings. You can see it in the calm of a low tide. You can feel it in the charge of a wild animal.
He’s painted from wrecks in the Nile, dinghies in the Solent, and dust covered streets in Cairo. His plein air works often include passersby—folded gently into the scene as they drift through it—while his studio paintings demand attention, scale, and statement. Each piece is unique, and only a handful of large works are released each year.
