Kirsten van Schreven's work often returns to engineering and the structures people build. The Pont Eiffel at Castagnède in south-west France is a 19th-century iron bridge over the Gave d'Oloron, designed by the company of Gustave Eiffel and known for its intricate lattice of metalwork.
