Painted en plein air from the terrace above Spilia Bay, this oil painting captures the sheltered harbour on the Greek island of Meganisi in the Ionian Sea. Tony Parsons set up his easel on the hillside and worked directly from the view: turquoise water folding into deep blue shadow, sailing boats moored along the quay, and terracotta-roofed houses tucked into olive-covered slopes, with the mountains rising pale and hazy beyond.

The loose, confident brushwork carries the feeling of a bright Mediterranean morning, while the sunlit foliage in the foreground frames the bay as if you're standing at the railing yourself. It's a piece for anyone who has sailed the Ionian, holidayed on Meganisi or Lefkada, or simply wants a little Greek summer on their wall all year round.
